It depends on the scent. I have been creating scented food jewelry and miniatures for over 15 years and I still have pieces that smell just as strong as they did when I created them. From my experience, I have notice that the darker scents like grape, cinnamon, chocolate, gingerbread, pumpkin spice, tend to last longer than the fruitier scents. Most of my past customers have reported some scents between 6 months to a year. Again it greatly depends on how you care for you jewelry. For more info, Refer to our scent classification guide below.

How do you scent your creations?

Hey! That's a secret! Just kidding! I use skin safe fragrance oils that are similar to the ones that are used in candle and soap making. Its 100% safe for the skin and does not cause irritations.

Are your pieces really scented? How long do the scents last?

Yes! Every dessert charm is lightly infused or richly infused (depending on the scent classification) with premium perfume-grade oils.

Most scents last 1–3+ years, and some (like Gingerbread Cookie) last even longer.

We use our Decadent Minis Scent Classification System:

Do your scents contain allergens or food ingredients?

No.

Our scents do not contain food, and the jewelry is not edible.

Scents are cosmetic-grade or fragrance-grade oils commonly used in candles, soaps, and perfumes.

If you have extreme fragrance sensitivities, we recommend choosing unscented options.

What is the Decadent Minis Scent Classification System™?

To help our customers choose the perfect scent experience, every scented Decadent Minis product is labeled with a two-part classification:

How do scent strength levels work?

Level 1 – Light

Soft and subtle, great for sensitive noses.

Level 2 – Moderate

Balanced, noticeable but gentle.

Level 3 – Strong

Bold bakery scent that stands out.

Level 4 – Extra Strong

Our most powerful fragrances. These scents are rich, aromatic, and very noticeable.

How do scent longevity levels work?

Level A — 1–2 Years

Lightest scents, fade the fastest.

Level B — 2–3 Years

Moderate scents with good oil stability.

Level C — 3+ Years (Premium Long Wear)

These scents last the longest. Many of our bakery oils naturally last three years or more.

Why do some scents last longer than others?

Bakery-based fragrance oils such as gingerbread, cinnamon roll, sugar cookie, and birthday cake have heavier base notes that hold their scent longer.

Citrus or fruity scents tend to fade faster because of lighter molecules.

How long does the Gingerbread Cookie scent last?

Our Gingerbread Cookie scent is rated:

How should I store my scented charm to keep it fresh?

To maintain scent life:

We offer Custom Scent Creations, including seasonal, bakery, fruity, and signature blends. You could even send in a vial of your favorite perfume or cologne.

What is the size of your jewelry and miniatures?

All Decadent Minis pieces are crafted in true miniature scale, designed to look like tiny, ultra-realistic desserts. Sizes may vary slightly because each piece is handmade, but here is our general size guide:

All minis are hand-sculpted, so each piece may vary slightly, making your jewelry truly one-of-a-kind.

Unless you request otherwise, my jewelry findings are hypoallergenic surgical steel, titanium or 14kt gold which is great for sensitive ears and very resistant to tarnishing. The foods themselves are made from polymer clay, which turns into a plastic after baking, so the pieces are water resistant, and I have worn my jewelry in the shower without causing harm. Please remove jewelry when swimming in a chlorinated pool as the chemicals may cause discoloration. Avoid leaving the pieces in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as this can cause fading, and if you choose to use a commercial metal polish on the findings, dip only the metal portions into the cleaner, as it can damage the finish of the polymer clay. To prolong the scent, store in the plastic bag that came with the jewelry.
